As the Grain Operations Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the Rycroft facility. You will be responsible for inspecting, testing, recording, and managing grain loads to ensure they meet our quality standards. You will proactively communicate with employees, carry out instructions set forth by the Elevator Manager, and educate suppliers regarding the importance of Grain Millers quality specifications. This hands-on role requires attention to detail, operational awareness, and a strong commitment to safety and food compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Executing and documenting the sampling, grading, acceptance or rejection, binning, maintenance, conditioning, blending, and shipping of all grains
  • Assist with the procurement of grains by grading submitted samples, recording and communicating sample results, and communicating Grain Millers\' bids as per the Elevator Manager
  • Inspecting and documenting all inbound and outbound vessels
  • Preparing and documenting all steps involved in handling, storing, and shipping organic grains
  • Maintain all transactional and food safety documentation
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all equipment for minor maintenance needs
  • Work directly with farmers, customers, and other vendors, and occasionally represent Grain Millers publicly at various events
  • Monitor adherence to safety, GMP, and food safety standards
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and food-safe working environment
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge and understanding of the grain business and markets is an asset
  • General knowledge and understanding of farming practices is an asset
  • Ability to supervise and lead effectively
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Must have the ability to detect visually or by odor off-spec product such as colour, shape and/or size. Must be able to complete tasks that require manual dexterity.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Can operate and/or obtain any certifications, licenses, etc., in the safe operation of railcars and equipment
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Hours Of Work

This position will be working Monday–Friday, 8 hr/day schedule with flexibility to work weekends or evenings as required by the facility.
