Overview

GLOCAL’s new and innovative ONLINE VOLUNTEERING program enables Canadians to engage in remote volunteering with 1500+ peers nationwide, at their own pace.

Why volunteer

Do you have a busy schedule but still want to contribute to the community at your own pace? Are you interested in volunteering and connecting with fellow Canadians nationwide through digital platforms? Do you want to gain or exercise your skills in areas such as research, data, social media and communications, community outreach, digital products and services, or compliance, while applying them to civic issues and gaining Canadian work experience? You can initiate your own legacy projects that inspire social innovation and creative civic participation across Canada.

How it works

1. Visit our GLOCAL website and fill out the application form.
2. Join Orientation Session (twice daily during weekdays) and discuss your plan with GLOCAL track managers.
3. Pick one or more tracks of the themes of your choice and apply them in community service and civics knowledge mobilization context.
4. Choose a Volunteering Plan: 5 hours per YEAR; 5 hours per MONTH; or 5 hours per WEEK. The 5-hour figure is a rough guideline and is not binding; volunteers can work more or fewer hours based on availability. Actual volunteer hours will be recognized accordingly.

Funding and opportunities

Funded in part by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), GLOCAL officially launches CANConnect Diversity Micro-grants for Canadian Youth. The micro-grants provide opportunities to design and produce research, short videos, interviews, or digital projects that promote civic engagement in Canada.
