Overview

The General Manager of MIWE Canada is responsible for all business activities in Canada and reports to the CFO in Germany. The MIWE subsidiary is located in Mississauga, Ontario and was established in 2010. The company provides competent and holistic advice on all aspects of production and in-store baking ovens, bakery refrigeration technology, automation, digitalization and service. MIWE's goal is to grow its presence in Canada and establish a sales and service structure in the country.

Key objectives

The key objective of the GM will be the development and implementation of a strategic plan for MIWE’s growth and expansion in Canada, including :

  • Establishing and expanding sales channels, managing the dealer network, and increasing market share.
  • Building, developing and leading a team to achieve revenue and profit targets.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with MIWE’s key customers and partners in Canada.
  • Creating and tracking budgets (P&L, CF, balance sheet) and driving their implementation.
  • Developing employees through leadership, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Developing and implementing sales strategies and tactics to acquire new business and expand market share in the US market.
  • Building and maintaining a strong brand image for MIWE in Canada market through effective marketing and communication campaigns.
  • Monitoring and analyzing market trends and competitive activities, as well as regularly informing senior management about market opportunities and risks.
  • Managing and optimizing the company’s network in the Canada by identifying and developing new sales channels and ensuring an efficient service structure to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Developing and implementing an effective sales strategy for MIWE’s equipment and services in the Canada.
  • Collaborating with MIWE’s global teams to ensure the company’s mission, vision, and values are upheld and best practices are implemented.
Requirements
  • Bachelor:’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related field.
  • Extensive experience in capital goods sales, including key account management and business development, ideally in the bakery industry.
  • Proven track record in expanding and scaling sales and service structures in the highly competitive North American market.
  • Strong commercial mindset with a deep understanding of the US market.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to build and motivate high-performing (remote) teams.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing and optimizing sales and service networks, as well as overseeing logistics processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, foster a positive corporate culture, and promote employee engagement and development.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential for this role; fluency in German is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to travel up to 60%, as the GM will need to meet with customers and partners and attend industry events.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a constantly evolving environment; experience in pricing and contract negotiations is required.
