Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Manager of Digital Workplace & Service Delivery and working closely and collaboratively with the Police Modernization Portfolio Manager, the Computer Technical Support position will assist in maintaining a high level of technology service delivery to the employees of the Timmins Police Service. The Computer Technical Support position will also assist in performing various tasks associated with the resolution of issues as they pertain to the Timmins Police Service’s Computer Information Systems.

Duties
  • Provide personal computer / help desk support, including responding to hardware and software requests for support, troubleshooting, installing approved software on personal computers or network servers and hardware setup in a variety of operating environments such as the currently supported MS Windows and LINUX.
  • Provide help desk support and system support for the Voice Over I/P telephone system.
  • Assist with ensuring the efficient use of computer system resources, maintaining system and data security, identification of network performance issues, vendor service personnel contact.
  • Maintain a vast array of technology support systems for tasks such as anti-virus management, system deployment management and O/S update management.
  • Provide operational support for the Timmins Police Service’s enterprise infrastructure environment.
  • Provide technical assistance and liaison for information systems projects.
  • Maintain the I/T Asset portfolio management system.
  • Assist various departmental functions as required.
  • Participate in I/T support shift work and on-call service delivery schedule.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot in-car systems such as cameras, audio, and software.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a two-year Community College Diploma in Computer Studies or equivalent combination of computer-related training and experience
  • Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of personal computer systems, servers, mobile devices & smartphones and applications
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of internetworking technologies and trends in an enterprise environment
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of VMware vSphere and other enterprise level virtual environments.
  • Knowledge of ITIL principles and processes (ITIL 4 Foundation certification preferred).
  • Knowledge of Axon and Verkada would be an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management methodologies and practices
  • Strong interpersonal & customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Two years computer operations experience in the MS Windows environment or equivalent
  • Current, clear Criminal Record Check
  • Current WHMIS Certificate
  • Valid G Class Driver’s License
