Overview

The Forest Group is awarded one of Canada’s Best Managed companies. The Forest Group is a vertically integrated diversified group of companies offering exterior construction material supply and services within the Greater Toronto Area. Focused on asphalt paving, concrete, landscape construction and other exterior construction, Forest has provided quality solutions for over 30 years. We are currently looking for a full-time Financial Controller for our businesses that sell and produce asphalt and concrete.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a full set of accounting records on an accurate and timely basis.
  • Be organized, work in a fast-paced environment, and work with the comptroller and President; the successful candidate shall be required to multitask and jump into special projects as and when required.
  • Collaborate with others in the accounting and finance department and mentor finance team members, fostering professional development and a positive work environment.
  • Day-to-day maintaining records including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and payroll.
  • Reporting of interim financial statements, annual budgets and variance analysis on a regular basis.
  • Reporting cash flow, financial performance and key performance indicators, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Oversight of bank accounts, intercompany accounts, HST and all government remittances.
  • Year-end file for external accountants.
  • Make recommendations for improving or changing standard operating procedures.
Qualifications
  • CPA designation
  • At least 2 years of experience; 2-3 years in related industries preferred
  • Must be computer savvy in Microsoft Office and have experience with accounting software, preferably Jonas and QuickBooks
  • Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises
