Qualifications

Position Overview

Vetster is looking for a Finance Manager to help us scale the finance department. Working with the VP of Finance, the Finance Manager will help grow Vetster’s finance team's offering. The role will encompass a large array of responsibilities such as establishing processes and policies for staff, managing accounts payables, and supporting department leads in managing budgets. In addition, this person will work with senior leadership to help develop scenarios and models that support strategic plans. The right person wants to do a little bit of everything; ranging from month‑end close to helping scale the department for rapid growth. Please note this role is hybrid, with a minimum of 2 days per week in our office in midtown Toronto at Yonge and Summerhill.

Your impact:
  • Full cycle accounting
  • Month End Close and preparation of monthly reporting package for management
  • Managing and improving upon the company's operating model
  • Coordinate and align with stakeholders to build the operating budget and monthly re‑forecasts
  • Evaluate and document current finance processes and research and recommend improvements
  • Assist with payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other daily tasks
  • Control department costs by anticipating risks/opportunities.
  • Account Reconciliations
  • Co‑ordinate and manage year‑end audit with external auditors
  • Preparing sensitivity and scenario analysis as required
  • Investigating new accounting systems to help scale
  • Conduct ad‑hoc analysis to identify potential P&L opportunities and risks, and offer well‑supported recommendations and challenge to the business
What You Bring:
  • 4-6years of experience working in a startup, technology, or public accounting environment
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA) or is in the latter stages of acquiring one
  • Aptitude to work across a number of skills, including practical and strategic work.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with an ability to distill financial information to a broad set of stakeholders.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and proficiency in SQL is an asset.
  • Must be proficient in Excel and Google Sheets
