Field Review Monitor (FRM) Job Description

Acting on behalf of the applicable Engineer of Record (EOR), the Field Review Monitor (FRM) is responsible for conducting field reviews at construction sites during the implementation or construction of the Professional Work Product (PWP). The EOR retains professional responsibility, including all engineering decisions related to the PWP. The FRM, working under the direct supervision of the EOR, ensures that the construction or implementation of the PWP aligns with the original design’s intent, specifications, and requirements.

Profile

Requirements:

  • Technical trade school training or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering is an asset.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as an electrician.
  • Knowledge of public works contracts; experience with P3 projects is an asset.

Skills, Competencies, and Attributes:

  • Experience in electrical erection and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
  • Proficiency with inspection equipment.
  • Proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and ability to interpret it.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction processes.
  • Leadership potential is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, technological).
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Recognition of hazardous conditions and taking appropriate action.
  • Sound judgment.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, inspect above and below ground, work in confined spaces, and navigate construction terrains.
