Your main responsibilities

Primary Function

The Field Engineer provides technical support to field operations by evaluating standard techniques, identifying critical problems and recommending solutions for the installation, adjustment and maintenance of elevators and escalators. The incumbent makes independent technical decisions on details of work covered by engineering standards and receives direct supervision and guidance primarily on unusual, critical or controversial problems or questions.

Your Main Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support by phone to assigned branch when they have difficulties to solve complex technical issues.
  • Provide support on site when the escalated issues cannot be solved remotely.
  • Provide support on site to help in the commissioning and start‑up of complex projects or equipment.
  • Support the field in the installation, commissioning and start‑up of pre‑series and/or 0‑series from new products in introduction phase.
  • Provide technical support to the sales force and service leaders when bidding for a complex new installations / modernizations job or a complex service contract which demands more than the usual know‑how in the sales force if and when required.

Technical Support and Solutions

  • Collaborate with field mechanics to troubleshoot escalated calls related to problem units.
  • Evaluate or devise alternative approaches to problems encountered in areas including equipment installation and adjustment, equipment servicing, component application, field investigations and preparation of related engineering documentation.
  • Identify critical problem areas and recommend corrective action(s).

Project Management

  • Develop, implement and maintain procedures to monitor and respond to callbacks, and “sick” units.
  • Plan, schedule and coordinate detailed phases of field work in a portion of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
  • Complete tasks and assignments within budgetary limitations and in accordance with applicable specifications, codes and schedule requirements.
  • Create surveys and analyze jobs to develop specific requested technical field data and prepare related reports.
What you bring

Education and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2‑3 years in the elevator industry or related experience, or a similar industry which includes the sales and servicing of capital equipment.
