Overview
You’re a FIELD / CLIMBING AND AutoCAD Drafting Technician looking for a drafting and field (climbing heights) entry-level role in the telecommunications industry. We’re growing and looking for entry-level drafting technicians / climbers to join our team.
Responsibilities
- As an entry-level climber, work as part of an experienced field inspection team to complete inspections on cell tower structures.
- Travel to different sites daily, primarily across Ontario and occasionally to western Canada.
- Carry out audit inspections, post inspections and CSA Maintenance inspections, performing inspections from the ground and from the towers (climbing from 100 to 1000 feet).
- For audits, gather information for structural analysis; for post inspections, ensure installations align with engineering drawings and client specifications.
- Compile inspection findings into inspection reports.
- Use AutoCAD skills to create basic drawings illustrating measured findings.
AutoCAD Drafting Technician / Steel Detailer (dual focus)
- Work as part of the Structural Steel Detailing Team to develop installation drawings for telecom projects.
- Collaborate with a intermediate Steel Detailer, engineers, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders to gather details and produce, maintain, and update accurate AutoCAD drawings and schematics.
- Produce AutoCAD drawings that meet client expectations and project deadlines.
- Maintain and update AutoCAD schematics as required.
- Conduct site visits to gather information.
Qualifications
- You are a Civil Engineering Technology or Drafting Program Graduate.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with AutoCAD in professional or academic settings preparing drawings/schematics related to civil engineering or structural detailing.
- Valid driver’s license for travel to field inspection sites.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) at an intermediate level.
- Desire and ability to obtain a working at heights certificate and/or completion of a working at heights certification.
- Experience in the engineering or construction industry is preferred.
Benefits and Details
- Full-time permanent position, Monday to Friday; field work with occasional office work in St. Jacobs.
- Typical start time between 7:00 and 8:00 am; full 8-hour days with occasional overtime; overtime pay available.
- 2 weeks of vacation, 5 paid sick days, a week off between Christmas and New Year’s, benefits, and potential profit-sharing bonuses.
