The Opportunity

The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Public Operations department as a Facility Services Worker – Certified.

Under the supervision of the Team Lead – Facility Services, this position will be responsible for performing various duties in all areas of maintenance and repair, as well as assisting in the alteration and installation of all systems in compliance with corporate and provincially legislated Occupational Health and Safety regulations, policies and codes of practice and the City of St Albert Environmental Management System.

The individual we seek can work independently and in a team while making sound decisions based on established standards.

Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Grade 12 Education.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and clear driver’s abstract showing fewer than 5 demerits.
  • Current Standard First Aid Certification.
  • 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate.
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent, directly related building operations systems experience (HVAC, boilers, electrical, mechanical controls, and security systems).
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public and building tenants.
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office programs.
  • The position involves physical labour (heavy lifting) as well as sitting, riding, and standing. Must be prepared to work in all weather conditions and be able to work at heights.
Hours of Work
  • 7:00 – 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday.
  • Participation in the standby roster will be required.
Compensation
  • $34.02 per hour including a comprehensive benefits package.

Conditions of Employment
  • This position is represented by the Union CUPE 5141, and the terms and conditions of employment are governed by the collective agreement between the Union and The City of St. Albert.
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of educational and professional credentials.
  • The successful applicant must be able to obtain (and maintain) a RCMP issued Security Clearance.
