Organization

Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Environmental Services Branch is responsible for ensuring the department’s compliance with provincial/federal environmental legislation and the integration of environmental stewardship into all projects, activities and operations.

Conditions of Employment

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in environmental management. A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Experience and knowledge of environmental management approaches including legislation, policy, and assessments.
  • Knowledge and understanding of environmental regulatory approval processes and associated requirements.
  • Knowledge of transportation and water infrastructure including planning, design, construction and maintenance practices
  • Experience in development and maintenance of data management including but not limited to Excel, SharePoint, GIS applications and geospatial databases
  • Experience in project management and coordinating project teams
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet competing deadlines
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict management skills to deal effectively with complex and sensitive issues
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Strong planning, research, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications
Duties
  • Reporting to the Capital Program Environment Manager (the Manager), the Environment Capital Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and operation of the Environmental Services Branch’s Environmental Assessment and Approval Process. The Environmental Assessment and Approvals Process assists in the delivery of the department’s capital program and ensures regulatory compliance and that environmental risks associated with construction, operation and maintenance activities are effectively managed.
  • The position is a senior advisory and technical role that is responsible for:
    Coordination and operation of the Environmental Services Branch’s Environmental Assessment and Approval Process.
  • Monitoring and reporting on processes and procedures that support the consistent and efficient functioning of the environmental assessment and approvals process for the delivery of capital program projects.
  • Providing recommendations and strategic advice to the Manager or Director on project priorities; workflows; planning, policy and process improvements; and the development/implementation of strategic communication plans to support the Environmental Assessment and Approvals process for capital program projects and related activities.
