Overview

ENGINEERING PROJECT SHOP SUPERVISOR (BAND LEVEL 10) (PROJECT ENGINEER)

Department of Technical Services

Contractual Position to October 15, 2027

The University will consider applications from qualified permanent staff who may be interested in a secondment, subject to departmental approval.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Supervise technical staff in the Project Engineering team, including training and mentoring junior staff.
  • Consult with faculty, staff, and students to prepare project designs for laboratory and scientific equipment.
  • Prepare cost estimates and provide project status updates.
  • Complete analysis for a wide range of applications, including compliance for pressure systems.
  • Prepare CAD files for parts and assemblies; track fabrication activities.
  • Support the quality management program, maintain project data, participate in relevant committees, and perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Experience (5-7 years) of mechanical engineering related work in a university or related environment.
  • Graduation from high school, supplemented by the successful completion of a Mechanical Engineering degree, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Eligible for registration with Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Experience with fabrication technologies is essential, including CNC machining, welding, additive manufacturing, waterjet cutting, and 3D scanning.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASME Codes for pressure systems and knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to work in a team environment. Project planning experience would be an asset.

Salary $74,288 - $96,297 per annum (Management and Professional)
