Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, or equivalent experience.
Work setting: Construction, Commercial, Residential, Installation.
Tasks: Test and measure voltage, loads, and ground faults; integrity of circuits. Troubleshoot and isolate faults. Connect power to audio and visual equipment. Install power generation, stand-by power generation and power conditioning systems. Estimate costs and materials. Renovate electrical systems in residential and commercial structures. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Commission systems and components. Conduct voltage, resistance and other tests using electrical test equipment. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations. Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records. Install electrical distribution and transmission systems.
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Electrician Trade Certification.

Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years.
