- City Yard, 1116 King St W, Toronto M6K 1E6 (once location is operational)
Major Responsibilities
- Performs tasks related to the construction, installation, maintenance, calibration and repair of electrical/electronic systems, communications equipment in paramedics vehicles, public address systems, fixtures and supervisory systems for remote control and telemetering, etc. utilizing various techniques.
- Assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of interior wiring systems, electrical equipment, conduit and cable.
- Performs preventative maintenance. Troubleshoots and corrects problems. Fabricates/assembles electronic components. Sets up and maintains sound systems.
- Travels to various work locations.
- Prepares and interprets layouts and electronic circuit diagrams.
- Prepares estimates for work performed.
- Performs a variety of skilled work not requiring the service of other licensed trades.
- Assists in the repairing of large and small motors and in the re-winding of same.
- May be required to provide work direction and training to others.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
Key Qualifications
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
- Experience in semi-skilled electrical work, including solder and crimp connectors.
- Must possess and be able to maintain a current Province of Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and must qualify for the City’s equipment operating permits and requirements.
You must also have:
- May be required to possess and be able to maintain a current Certificate of Qualification as an Electrical Technician in accordance with the regulations enforced in the Province of Ontario or may be required to have undergone Technical School training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to perform service and repair record keeping using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and equivalent software.
- Knowledge of the theory of electricity and required to keep up with technology upgrades through training.
- Knowledge of in vehicular electrical systems.
- Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations that apply to this work.
- Must be physically capable of performing required duties.
- Must be available to work shift/ weekend/ overtime/ on call duty.
