POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an Electrical Designer or Engineer to join our Electrical New Product Development (NPD) team. In this key role, you will manage engineering design tasks and projects focusing on electrical systems, guiding them from concept through to production implementation. Your expertise will encompass all related design activities, including calculations, communication, documentation, and material requirements.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Executes and completes engineering design tasks and project assignments in support of prototyping/testing & product development activities per NPD product development processes.
- Coordinates own tasks to ensure deadlines are met per project schedule and applicable lead times. Includes maintaining task status, task progress and communicating risks to task scope change.
- Performs engineering calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with design criteria and all applicable standards and regulations.
- Create/checks engineering documents, shop floor instructions and other documents as authorized.
- Completes controlled testing of components and system to meet contractual obligations, vendor requirements (SAA), ensure product reliability, performance and verify component fit.
- Interacts with suppliers (which may include end customer) on design-related issues during development that may require an end goal of supplier application approval.
- Performance of project design reviews.
- Support product launch integration to production, quality assurance, customer service support and other departments as directed.
- Performance of applicable FMEA and Hazard Analysis exercises.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma or an equivalent combination of education, skills and experience will be considered.
- Registered (or eligible to be registered) as a Professional Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist.
- Five or more years of design experience and demonstrating ability to achieve performance objectives.
- Proficient in designs involving multiplexing systems for heavy-duty vehicles, CAN bus networks, and PLC Programming.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and familiarity with engineering analysis tools.
- Strong multitasking skills in a dynamic work environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative problem-solving abilities and a strong sense of teamwork.
- Self-motivated with the capability to work independently.
- Ability to manage projects efficiently and effectively is an asset.
