Job Purpose and Impact

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist II (3rd shift) will lead the implementation, execution, and maintenance of the environmental, health, safety, and process safety management systems at low to medium complex facilities, or help lead at a high complex facility. You will serve as a subject matter authority for safe, compliant operational practices and demonstrate compliance with company policies, work processes, programs, and standards that align with environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the plant manager in facilitating community and governmental interactions and maintaining the external reputation.
  • Support contractor EHS requirements during construction and help test and evaluate EHS performance during project startup.
  • Partner with regional and national EHS teams to manage site impact assessments, operating permits, and construction permits.
  • Support the development and delivery of EHS training, conducting gap assessments, and customizing curricula to site-specific needs.
  • Collaborate with site leaders to integrate and operationalize EHS programs, fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Localize and integrate company and legal work processes into site procedures, tools, and work instructions to standardize operations and monitor performance.
  • Align goals, metrics, and targets with plant vision, and oversee site performance, incident response, and compliance.
  • Resolve moderately complex issues independently, escalating more complex problems as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
