General Purpose

The University of Guelph Child Care and Learning Centre (CCLC) is now accepting applications from qualified applicants for one Regular Full Time (RFT) Educator II position.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, the RFT Educator II will be part of a team of early learning and care professionals. In this role, the Educator will partner with the children, families and other classroom educator(s) to plan and implement an inclusive, child-centred program based on children’s natural curiosities and interests. Through collaboration and teamwork, the successful candidate will help to create a rich, responsive, and innovative learning environment that invites exploration, play, and inquiry. The Educator will also establish and maintain collaborative relationships with families and the community professionals working with children in our programs.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • A minimum of one and a half (1.5) years of related experience working within a licensed child care setting (3 years or more preferred)
  • Current registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR-C
  • Verification of required immunizations
  • A personal teaching philosophy that connects to the CCLC’s Program Statement, emergent curriculum, and nature-based pedagogy, and is consistent with the Reggio Emilia Approach
  • Demonstrated ability to create a rich and responsive early learning environment that helps make children’s learning visible
  • Knowledge of the Ministry of Education’sChild Care and Early Years ActandHow Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years
  • Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with children, families, staff, and the general public
  • Current or recent engagement in relevant professional learning experiences that are consistent with the CCLC’s pedagogical approach and direction
  • Demonstrated ability to guide/mentor support staff, students, and volunteers
  • Basic computer and technological skills
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance record

The target hiring salary for this position is minimum and up to 96% of midpoint for the salary grade.
