Position Overview

360 Services Inc. is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Draftsperson / Project Planner to join our engineering team. This role focuses on the design, drafting, and planning of heavy mining and industrial equipment, including buckets, truck boxes, track frames, excavator sticks, and booms.

In addition to drafting and design, this position plays a key role in project planning, workflow coordination, and fabrication support, using modern CAD software, CNC nesting tools, and 3D scanning technology.

This is a hands-on role suited for someone who enjoys seeing designs move from concept to fabrication on the shop floor.

Responsibilities
Design & Drafting
  • Create and modify detailed technical drawings and specifications for mining equipment components and custom fabrication projects using AutoCAD and Fusion 360.
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and project managers to develop practical, buildable design solutions that meet operational requirements.
3D Scanning & Modeling
  • Use 3D scanning technology to capture accurate measurements of existing equipment and components.
  • Integrate scanned data into CAD models to improve accuracy, efficiency, and fit-up during fabrication.
Custom Fabrication Support
  • Work closely with the fabrication team to design custom solutions tailored to client needs and site-specific requirements.
  • Prepare detailed drawings, layouts, and assembly instructions to support efficient manufacturing and installation.
CNC Plasma Table Nesting
  • Create optimized nesting layouts using ProNest for CNC plasma cutting operations.
  • Maximize material utilization while ensuring cut quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Prepare accurate material takeoffs for plate, wear components, and fabricated assemblies.
  • Assist with project workflow planning, sequencing, and coordination to support on-time delivery and efficient shop execution.
Quality Assurance
  • Review drawings and designs to ensure compliance with company standards, project specifications, and fabrication best practices.
  • Verify accuracy, completeness, and usability of drawings before release to production, with safety and practicality in mind.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in drafting and design; relevant hands-on experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Fusion 360.
  • Experience with 3D scanning technology is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with CNC plasma tables and nesting software (ProNest preferred).
  • Experience in the mining, heavy equipment, or industrial fabrication sector is a strong asset.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, steel fabrication processes, and shop practices.
