Job Overview

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, as the Drafting Technician you are responsible for creating designs and drawings to facilitate the construction of new homes. You provide technical information and knowledge that supports profitable business decisions.

Your Day-to-day Responsibilities Will Include
  • Preparing drawings accurately and consistently with project specifications and requirements, including construction drawing sets, sales and marketing drawings, and preliminary site planning.
  • Supporting the Project Manager throughout the project tender process, and completing building permit applications.
  • Establishing standardized drafting practices, details and templates for CAD drawings.
  • Qualifying materials required for projects and processing purchase orders.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date record-keeping system, including pricing and product information.
  • Providing administrative support to other projects or duties as assigned.

Essential Requirements
  • Post-secondary education or certificate in Drafting, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Auto CAD Technician or related field.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Team, SharePoint and PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior drafting experience would be an asset.

Working Conditions

You primarily work in an office setting during regular business hours. Travel to work sites within the city and surrounding areas may be required. Overtime may occasionally be required.
