Company Description

Job Description
  • Unloads freight from inbound trailers and loads outbound trailers using the handheld scanner as well as staging overflow freight for pickup by linehaul drivers at night as required
  • Distributes freight to local P&D Drivers
  • Marks materials with identifying information
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed (on handheld device)
  • Counts and weighs items to ensure conformance to the shipper's bill of lading
  • Starts heaters, placards trailers as required
  • Arrange freight in a specified sequence for maximum usage of trailer space
  • Must take an active role in the safety and maintenance of the warehouse by sweeping the floor, properly storing dunnage, etc.
  • Monday to Friday
  • Computer knowledge - will be responsible for end-of-day labels and handling of drivers
  • Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
  • WHIMS/Dangerous Goods Certificate/ Forklift certification( These items are covered with in-house training programs)
  • Developed problem-solving, critical thinking, decision making and judgment skills
  • Able to lift 50 lbs sometimes repetitive
  • Ability to multitask and manage various tasks successfully
  • Ability to operate our internal computer systems, handheld scanning devices
  • Dependable and able to work in a dock environment safely and efficiently while meeting timelines for departures
  • Knowledge of the AS400 system would be an asset
  • Willing to train the right applicant
  • Have own personal transportation to and from work with a clean driving record

Note: This reflects the starting range for this position. The actual wage will be determined by the person's qualifications.
