Are you passionate about numbers and eager to have a direct impact on a company’s success? This position might be for you! The Director of Finance will be responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all accounting activities within the company, ensuring they align with corporate objectives. You will work closely with the Vice President of Finance & Administration to manage budgets, financial statements, inventories, and lead the accounting team.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Supervise and train the accounting team
  • Prepare and analyze consolidated and stand-alone financial statements (Canada & USA), monthly and annually
  • Monitor and manage accounting inventories
  • Perform month-end journal entries
  • Contribute to the planning and coordination of the annual budgeting process
  • Ensure improvement and efficiency of budget control processes
  • Oversee monthly budget tracking with key company departments
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of performance indicators with the company’s departments
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for external investors and the board of directors
  • Manage audits and maintain relationships with auditors
  • Prepare and submit annual reports to various government agencies
  • Develop management reports and update the financial forecasting model (including budget variance analysis)
  • Support the finance function in continuous improvement projects and implementation of new business processes
  • Provide value-added operational analyses and collaborate with internal departments on accounting and finance-related matters
  • Ensure the implementation and improvement of internal controls
  • Perform any other related tasks

Qualifications, skills, and required aptitudes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance or Business Administration
  • Bilingual (spoken and written)
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • Experience in the food processing or manufacturing industry (an asset)
  • Experience in a high-growth company (an asset)
  • Experience with American financial operations (an asset)
  • Demonstrated leadership, strong team management skills, and ability to develop team members
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Promotes collaboration and teamwork
  • Highly autonomous with strong priority planning skills
