Job description

Our client, a Toronto-based tech company, is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join their team and help build reliable, automated, and scalable infrastructure for their cutting‑edge video software platform. You will play a key role in streamlining deployments, monitoring, and troubleshooting across AWS and Kubernetes (k3s) environments, ensuring that systems remain robust, secure, and efficient.

Key Responsibilities
  • Automate the installation and deployment of the software on customers’ infrastructure – AWS and k3s.
  • Build and maintain scripts to configure, test, and optimize our solutions.
  • Continuously improve deployment pipelines with a focus on reliability and scalability.
  • Implement and enforce best practices for security, monitoring, and infrastructure automation.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate CI/CD practices and support smooth releases and updates for all customers.
  • Maintain production deployments, upgrades, health monitoring of services, and work with software engineers on new metrics to increase observability.
Requirements
  • Strong experience with configuration management systems (Ansible, Chef) and infrastructure as code tools (Terraform).
  • Expertise with Git administration and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI).
  • Solid Linux system administration experience.
  • Hands‑on expertise with AWS services: EC2, AutoScaling, CloudWatch, RDS, S3, CloudFormation.
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm Charts.
  • Experience with Semaphore UI.
  • Familiarity with VMWare vSphere.
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python.
  • Understanding of network technologies and protocols (IP, TCP, UDP, TLS).
Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of software build tools: GNU Make, Meson, Autotools, SCons, Gradle.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Zabbix).
  • Hands‑on experience managing centralized logging systems (ELK stack).
