Job summary

Job description
Position Description

Reporting to the Project Manager, the incumbent will be expected to assist with the review, approval and acceptance for municipal servicing of proposed developments including but not limited to water, storm and sanitary sewers, roads, sidewalks, drainage and stormwater management.

Position Description
  • Complete site inspections for site plans and development projects, which includes documenting and verifying conformance of watermain, storm and sanitary sewer installations as well as inspection of erosion and sedimentation controls.
  • Assist with review and comments on applications for severances and minor variances.
  • Answer servicing inquiries from the public, contractors, consultants and staff.
  • Assist with background research and assisting with the development and updating of policies, procedures and technical standards for development related municipal servicing and infrastructure.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • University or College student enrolled in a civil engineering or architectural technology course (or related field).
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License.
  • Computer expertise to apply Corporate software, with preference given to students with advanced knowledge in engineering specific programs such as AutoCAD, ArcView, and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word).
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Experience in general operation of office equipment, i.e. fax, photocopier, etc.
Note

Employment is conditional upon: attendance at all training sessions, submission of required documentation/certification, adherence to the minimum age requirements and ability to meet the employment term.

At time of application must be enrolled in a post-secondary education institution or institution of higher learning.

Applicants must submit a criminal record check (dated within the last 3 months) from their local police service for approval prior to commencing employment.
