The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board (KPR) invites applications for a Speech Language Pathologist (Temporary, 10 months) located at Education Centre. This 35-hour/week position offers a salary of $49.78 to $55.31 per hour (Pay Band 13-MV2). Start date is TBD. Posting closing date: August 14, 2025 at 4:00 pm.

Position purpose

The Speech Language Pathologist assesses, provides intervention programming, and offers consultation services for students with speech, oral and written language and communication difficulties to enhance language learning through the curriculum. This position reports to the Vice-Principal of Special Education Services. Note: This is a unionized position under CUPE Local 5555.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Masters degree or equivalent in Speech Language Pathology
  • One (1) to three (3) years of recent experience
  • Must be a registered member of CASLPO
  • Valid driver’s license and use of own vehicle

Specialized Skills:

  • Maintain professional development as per college requirements
  • Experience working in a multi-focus team environment and supervising CDAs
  • Experience with school-aged populations with communication needs is an asset
  • Experience with augmentative and alternative communication is an asset
  • Strong communication skills

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide formal and informal assessment and consultation support for students with communication difficulties (speaking, listening, reading, and/or writing)
  • Provide formal and informal language assessments, consultation for Complex Communication Needs, Speech Assessments, and Mild Speech Home Programming Support
  • Recommend and provide follow-up consultation for Specialized Equipment through SEA funding (reading, writing, AAC needs)
  • Share assessment results, recommendations, and program modifications with staff, parents, and professionals
  • Consult with school teams, Professional Services, and parents regarding speech-language programming resources, accommodations and modifications
  • Provide Tier 1 (whole classroom), Tier 2 (targeted small group), and Tier 3 (individual) support
  • Act as a resource to the Multi-Focus Team to support student needs through consultation
  • Support development of Individual Education Plans
  • Supervise Communicative Disorders Assistants who support staff with interventions and SEA equipment for AAC
  • Refer to community services and assist in transitions from Preschool Services
  • Provide Professional Development workshops and board-wide resources to meet identified needs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Officer of Mental Health and Professional Services and as required for college certification
Working Conditions
