Who we are looking for

As a member of the Bank Credit Risk team, the Credit Specialist is responsible for credit granting and related functions in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and in compliance with Bank policies and procedures. • Use credit risk assessment data sources and analytical tools (e.g., credit bureau reports, bank and trade references, budgetary information) and proactively obtain additional documentation from customers as required.
  • Monitor and validate the work of outsourced service providers in working credit queues for new applications and credit limit increase requests, ensuring SLAs are met and escalations follow standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with review and processing of certain application queues as needed.
  • Perform periodic reviews on high-exposure individual clients.
  • Assess potentially fraudulent or non-compliant accounts and coordinate with other Bank departments as needed.
  • Assist in developing and documenting operational process flows, balancing and audit functions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in developing and executing improvements in acquisition strategies, line management and credit policies; proactively recommend process streamlining and enhanced customer experience.
  • Share responsibility for achieving key portfolio performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal and external Privacy, AML and other regulations.
  • Keep department management informed of issues or developments that could impact program risk.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you bring

  • Minimum 3-5 years credit industry experience
  • Experience with TSYS TS2 and ADM is preferred
  • Experience in retail / credit card underwriting is preferred
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience
  • Good verbal and written communication and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
