Sterling Engineering is looking for a Maintenance Planner. The Maintenance Planner will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing maintenance activities across multiple sites, implementing preventative maintenance programs, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime. This role serves as the primary liaison between maintenance and operations, ensuring communication, efficiency, and consistency across the organization.

Job Duties
  • Support new projects by implementing equipment PMs and integrating them into CMMS.
  • Understand work orders well enough to define scope, estimate labor hours, tools, and resources required.
  • Standardize and prepare preventative maintenance plans and schedules across all sites.
  • Act as primary liaison between maintenance and operations to ensure timely, quality service.
  • Coordinate planned downtimes to reduce meantime between failures and minimize production impact.
  • Support sites in establishing Maintenance Workforce job goals and objectives.
  • Consolidate spare parts inventory to minimize costs across multiple locations.
  • Lead global CMMS updates, administration, and training for all sites.
  • Maintain compliance with controlled document processes and act as keeper of all maintenance records.
  • Utilize CMMS data to generate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual KPI reports and dashboards (MTBF, MTTR, availability, PM completion, etc.).
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Champion Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) initiatives across all sites.
  • Provide ongoing training and support for maintenance teams across Canada and the USA.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance planning experience within high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with CMMS systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner and provide guidance to others.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% throughout Canada and the USA.
