Overview

Now hiring : Cook

Wage: $20 per hour, based on 15-20 hours per week.

The Finlandia Cooperative of Thunder Bay is looking to add to our team for the Thunder Bay Country Market location and are looking for an energetic person to be our cook. If you possess the necessary energy and drive, we want to meet you to further discuss this position.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook legacy items as indicated by the Co-op’s Board of Directors. Monitor and ensure the quality of all food being served is to the standards expected by the Co-op.
  • In collaboration with the Manager, track, record, and maintain inventory stock including foods, beverages, and kitchen supplies. This may include preparing weekly ingredient orders.
  • Ensure the maintenance of kitchen appliances by reporting any broken or malfunctioning equipment to the Manager.
  • Maintain a clean kitchen and follow all municipal food safety and sanitation laws.
  • Work with the Manager and Co-op’s Board of Directors to creatively provide service during events utilizing the unique space and opportunities that the Hoito Kitchen Market provides.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.
Successful Candidates will exhibit
  • Knowledgeable and efficient execution of kitchen tasks
  • Ability to make swift decisions, particularly under pressure
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effortlessly with other members of the team and members of the public
  • Safe food handling, First Aid, driver’s licence and car would be assets in this position
