This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the Part-Time Contract Positions (Employee Group)
Student Seasonal Full-Time (up to 35 hours weekly) May to September; Occasional Event Opportunities may be available September to April (up to 20 hours weekly)
The conference assistants are responsible for assisting with the operations of setup and teardown of conferences and events, while providing a high level of customer service and professionalism to guests and visitors to Brock University.
Conference and Event Service Provision – Conference Assistants will assist Conference Coordinators in providing service that has been contracted with conference clients. Duties may include but not be limited to, setting up outdoor signage, moving/lifting event supplies, assisting at satellite check in, and checking meeting and event spaces for set ups/AV and general readiness. This role may also include duties relating to Brock Card services at the end of August / beginning of September.

The successful candidate/s will possess a University degree or be currently studying at Brock, a high degree of knowledge of the Brock University campus, its facilities and services, combined with previous work experience in the conference, event or hospitality industries or similar experience that provides the necessary transferrable skills.
Candidates will be highly motivated, able to complete the physical requirements of each task, have a strong customer-service orientation and a demonstrated desire to exceed customer expectations, a desire to be a Brock University ambassador, and strong written and oral communication skills. Candidates will be required to lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
Candidates must be able to work all shifts (days, afternoons, weekends, long weekends), be comfortable driving a Kubota, have a valid drivers’ license.
Hourly wage: $17.60/hour
