Commercial Business Development Representative
Overview

Reporting to the Regional Sales Director, the Commercial Sales Representative is responsible for developing new customer accounts for Superior Propane. Working within a defined territory and/or market segment, the Territory Sales Representative will promote and sell Superior Propane’s products and services to new customers in order to achieve predetermined sales goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Regional Sales Director to develop, recommend, and execute a sales plan that leverages national and regional programs and resources in order to consistently achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales objectives.
  • Prospect, research, and identify new business opportunities, and work within the sales plan to raise awareness, assess customer needs, and provide product and service solutions.
  • Initiate and lead the sales cycle/process as a subject matter expert, acting as the primary contact and key resource for the customer. Build strong business relationships with prospective clients and manage the sales funnel/cycle by maintaining ongoing follow-up on their current business needs and anticipating future ones.
  • Confidently prepare and deliver sales proposals, including pricing and terms for products and services, to key decision-makers. Influence, negotiate, and close sales while keeping both the company’s and the customer’s best interests in mind.
  • Collaborate and engage with the regional management team to ensure that customer needs can and will be met.
  • Regularly communicate and prepare reports on key performance indicators and sales funnel/cycle progress and achievements. Maintain a deep understanding of the customer base and regional business activity, using information and data to leverage sales opportunities and recommend sales strategies.
  • Resolve issues as they arise and involve subject matter experts and key decision-makers when necessary to remove obstacles.
  • Take ownership of the account—from prospecting to ongoing account management.
  • Promote and represent Superior Propane in a positive and professional manner within the community and the industry, with all customers, competitors, and industry partners.
Qualifications
  • Five (5) to ten years of sales experience with a proven track record of sales growth.
  • Strong focus on new business development.
  • Exceptional customer service and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong business acumen with financial and analytical skills.
  • Solid leadership abilities.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of the propane and/or oil and gas industry is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel 2–3 nights per month.
