Your role

This is a work term position that provides students with the opportunity to experience working in a public accounting firm while working closely with experienced professionals. The successful candidate must be in the process of completing a business degree. As a co-op student, you will join a general practice team and will participate in all aspects of client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing client accounting records, financial statements, corporate and personal income tax returns.
• Draft and review financial statements
• Plan and execute entry to level compilation engagements including preparation of financial statements and applicable tax filings such as T2s, T4s, T5S, GST & WCB and other compliance returns
• Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to continuously improve technical skills
• Prepare journal entries, individual and corporate tax returns
• Conduct research on professional and technical matters
• Prepare entry level personal income tax returns and related schedules
• Support various projects and admin tasks as required

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• 2ndor 3rdyear accounting student with completion of one or more financial accounting and/or tax courses
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
