Responsibilities

ABOUT THE JOB :

The aim of Global Business Service Unit (GBSU) Canada is to deliver day-to-day services to Société Générale investment and corporate bank units and their clients to accelerate their transformation. GBSU differentiates itself from competitors with the pace of the agile transformation delivered, spreading the technology and data culture, shortening the decision-making process, and adopting a true industrial approach, leveraging on different teams either transversal or aligned to the different sub business units.

The Operations Department is responsible for the middle and back-office functions for all Société Générale’s business lines in Canada. The Operations Group shall take all necessary measures to ensure the proper functioning of the operational, administrative, and financial processes of market transactions initiated by the business lines. In addition, the Operations Group ensures that controls surrounding transactional processes are in line with the financial rules in place.

The position offered is under the Securities Department and is part of a team responsible for the allocation, settlement and reconciliation of equity and bond transactions.

  • Settlement of fixed income, equity and option products in the US and Global markets
  • Reconciliation of cash positions and stock record between custodian / clearing agents / banks vs. in-house systems
  • Reconciliation of all suspense and control accounts
  • KPI / KRI reporting with full details around root cause and resolution
  • Continuous efforts to resolve all breaks including fails with counterparts

Work schedule is based on the calendar of the US Federal Reserve Bank.

  • Must be flexible to work between 8:00am and 7:00pm.
  • Overtime and late shifts on occasion

Profile required

Skills and Qualifications

Must Have :

  • Proficiency with clearing and settlements tools and systems
  • Experienced in handling all functions within the DTCC clearing systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Nice to have :

  • US Regulatory / Compliance experience
  • Knowledge of broker / dealer operations
  • Experience documenting front to back systems flows
Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in business (Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing, or related field), or equivalent
  • 5-7 years related experience
  • Understanding of trade flow and products for fixed income, equities, and options
  • To be able to multitask and meet deadlines
  • To advise and escalate on issues when necessary
  • To work together with counterparts, customers, other departments, and outside vendors
  • Comprehensive knowledge of processing domestic and international settlements
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Good inter-personal and partnering skills, a “team-player”
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a dynamic environment
Languages

French, English

Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is a requirement as the person in this position will need to collaborate regularly with colleagues and partners in the United States.
