Position Summary

The Child and Youth Care Worker is responsible for the daily care, supervision, and support of youth residing in the group home. The Child and Youth Care Worker works as part of a multidisciplinary team to create a safe, nurturing, and consistent environment where youth can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care, supervision, and positive role modeling to youth in the group home.
  • Support the emotional, behavioral, educational, and social development of each youth using trauma-informed and strength-based approaches.
  • Implement and follow individualized service plans, behavior support strategies, and daily routines.
  • Promote life skills development, including self-care, cooking, budgeting, and social interaction.
  • Respond to crisis situations using approved de-escalation and intervention techniques.
  • Facilitate recreational, cultural, and therapeutic activities to support personal growth.
  • Administer medications and maintain accurate documentation of care, incidents, and progress notes.
  • Collaborate with case workers, therapists, families, schools, and other professionals involved in the youth’s care.
  • Ensure the home environment is safe, clean, and welcoming.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Services, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience working with children and youth in residential or community settings.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, adolescent development, and crisis intervention.
  • Valid First Aid / CPR certification.
  • Crisis Prevention / Intervention (CPI) or equivalent training (an asset).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
