Overview

Chief Financial Officer

Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial operations and strategy across a diverse real estate development organization. Reporting directly to the CEO and Board of Directors, the CFO will oversee all financial activities, including budgeting, reporting, compliance, risk management, and capital planning. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, deep financial expertise, and a collaborative mindset to support long-term growth and operational excellence.

Your success will be defined by your ability to :

  • Lead the development and execution of financial strategies aligned with corporate goals
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to support business planning and growth initiatives
  • Mentor and guide divisional Controllers and Senior Accountants to enhance reporting and performance
  • Advise on corporate structure to ensure transparency and minimize legal and tax risks
  • Oversee accounting software usage and integration across divisions
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions and ensure compliance with reporting requirements
  • Provide strategic oversight to IT operations, including budgeting and software implementation
  • Coordinate quarterly financial forecasting and performance reviews with senior leadership
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities and implement mitigation strategies
  • Support project teams with financial alignment, costing, and profitability analysis
  • Manage cash flow, capital structure, and financing needs
  • Develop and review capital plans to support business growth
  • Lead negotiations with lenders and secure financing arrangements
  • Approve financial transactions and ensure adequate cash availability
  • Promote corporate governance best practices and contribute to board-level discussions
  • Prepare financial materials for board and committee meetings
  • Perform other related financial and accounting duties as required

Your strengths include :

  • CPA designation (required)
  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance (preferred)
  • 8+ years of executive-level financial leadership experience in mid-to-large organizations
  • Industry experience in real estate, construction, or healthcare (asset)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and Canadian tax regulations
  • Familiarity with financial software (e.g., Dynamics365, Sage, CaseWare, Concur)
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations at local, provincial, and federal levels
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driving record (required)
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check
