Job summary

A leading inspection company in Ontario is seeking a Certified CGSB Level 2 Inspector for a QA/QC contract starting January 2026. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of inspection experience, especially with steel structures. Responsibilities include inspecting welding and connections on site. Must be detail-oriented, possess strong analytical skills, and be able to work independently or as part of a team. This is a full-time contractor position for at least one year.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Certified CGSB Level 2 Inspector (VT, UT, MT).
  • Detail oriented and well organized.
  • Proven time management skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Work schedule: 8 hours a day, starting in January 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Review workmanship on steel fabrication for conformance with specifications.
  • Perform visual examinations and various testing methods for welds.
  • Inspect bolts of slip-critical and not slip-critical connections.

Job Description

SGS is looking to hire a Certified CGSB Level 2 Inspector (VT, UT, MT) as an independent contractor for a QA/QC assignment that will start in January 2026 and last one year.

Scope of work includes:

  • Review of workmanship on steel fabrication for conformance with project specifications and review of fitting dimensional checks
  • Visual Examination – 100% of all welds.
  • Ultrasonic Test Method – 100% of all complete penetration welds.
  • Magnetic Particle Test Method – 100% of all filet welds.
  • Inspection of bolts of slip‑critical and not slip‑critical or pre‑tensioned connections
Qualifications
  • Must be a Certified CGSB Level 2 Inspector (VT, UT and MT).
  • Minimum of 5 years of shop inspection experience (vendor surveillance).
  • Ideal candidate would have steel structure inspection experience.
  • Detail oriented and well organized
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Work schedule: 8 hours a day, starting in January 2026 for at least a year.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • The contractor will need to provide their own equipement.
  • The contractor needs to be an independent contractor (IC)
