A regional school board in Canada is seeking a Casual Educational Assistant to support students with exceptional needs. The successful candidate will possess a community college diploma and have at least 1-2 years of experience with school-aged special needs children. The role involves providing support in various capacities and requires ongoing flexibility. Available to accept assignments as needed and must hold valid First Aid/CPR certification.

Casual Educational Assistant
$27.45 per hour (plus 4% in lieu of vacation)
Under the direction of the Principal, the Casual Educational Assistant is an integral member of the school team, and is responsible for the provision of support to students with exceptional needs within the school. The position involves dealing with confidential information and requires ongoing flexibility and variability. Responsibilities are varied, in collaboration with teaching and other professional staff, and include:
The successful candidate will possess a community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent, and a minimum of 1-2 years of related experience with school aged special needs children. Equivalent programs must be assessed by Employee Services staff. Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C is required. The successful candidate will have also completed Behaviour Modification training. Please ensure that you include copies of your diploma(s) and/or certificates that are applicable to the qualifications of an Educational Assistant.
Casual, on call, at various Elementary and Secondary schools within the board, as needed.
A casual employee who has not worked at least five assignments during a school year shall be removed from the casual list and required to reapply, unless otherwise agreed by the Employer. It is understood that this provision does not apply to employees who are on statutory or other approved leaves of absence.
