Job description

We are looking for a Canadian Customs Entry Specialist will be responsible for preparing, submitting, and managing customs documentation, ensuring compliance with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) regulations, and coordinating with clients, carriers, and customs officers to facilitate seamless imports.

  • Prepare and process customs entries for shipments entering Canada.
  • Ensure compliance with CBSA regulations, tariffs, duties, and trade agreements (e.g., CUSMA/USMCA, CPTPP, etc.).
  • Classify goods using the Harmonized System (HS) tariff codes and apply correct duty rates.
  • Communicate with CBSA, freight forwarders, carriers, and clients to resolve any customs clearance issues.
  • Verify and review invoices, bills of lading, and supporting import documentation.
  • Track shipments and update clients on customs clearance status.
  • Stay up to date with Canadian customs regulations, duty/tax changes, and import/export laws.
  • Maintain accurate records in customs brokerage software (e.g., Descartes, BorderConnect, or SAP GTS).
  • Assist with audits, duty recovery, and compliance reporting as needed.
  • Experience in customs brokerage, logistics, or international trade.
  • Working knowledge of CBSA regulations, tariff classification, and customs documentation.
  • Proficiency in customs brokerage software (e.g., Descartes, BorderConnect, SAP GTS, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document verification.
