Responsibilities

GIS Technician | Fredericton, NB or Halifax, NS

Eagle Engineering & Consulting is currently growing to meet customer demand and is seeking a GIS Technician to join our team, working out of either our Fredericton or Halifax offices.

Job Duties :

  • Design, format, and compile required data from a variety of data sources
  • Ensure accurate survey plans are generated in GIS from information collected in the field
  • GIS database design, data creation and manipulation
  • Data conversion and analysis
  • Work with, maintaining and updating SQL databases
  • Use multiple mapping systems and software such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Publish maps and create applications using ArcGIS Online
  • Process data from mobile mapping platforms including Trimble MX7, Trimble MX9, or Pegasus II Ultimate
  • Create orthophoto mosaics, base mapping, and composite plans
  • Understand georeferencing and develop and maintain company standards, quality control for data and maps
  • Work on a variety of projects requiring different deliveries
Qualifications

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Diploma in GIS or Remote Sensing
  • Proficient in ArcGIS (Desktop / Pro), AutoCAD and knowledge of FME
  • Knowledge of Reality Capture, LiDAR and Photogrammetry would be an asset
  • Programming (Python, Arcade, HTML, SQL, etc.) would be an asset

Job Specific Information :

  • This is a full time permanent position
  • Entitlement to full company benefits after probation period of 3 months
  • Must currently be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Upon hiring, employee will be required to pass a background check process

Qualifications

Desired Skills and Experience :

  • A technical diploma or certificate from a recognized College or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of general computer use
  • Ability to use MS Office
  • An interest in teamwork in an office environment
  • Knowledge of or education in AutoCAD or MicroStation
