Reporting to the Senior Manager of Software Development, the Business Intelligence Data Specialist will be instrumental in designing, managing and supporting operationally the data and reporting landscape for the business. The position will be a very strategic role leveraging the candidate’s experience in data modelling, data warehousing and report model creation to help shape the next generation of business intelligence and report offerings for the business as we move towards a new to-be architecture leveraging the latest technologies in the space. The position will be joining at an exciting time as the business has embarked on a digital transformation journey moving its operation to the cloud and new technologies.

As a BI Data Specialist, you will

  • Have ownership and governance of the business intelligence and reporting platform offerings for the business.
  • Provide insight into reporting platform usage and metrics
  • Support migration of the existing data warehouse and related critical reporting to a new future state data warehousing platform and data structure.
  • Enforce data cleanliness and consistency and be the gatekeeper for data quality in the bi platform.
  • Create data dictionaries to support the reporting platform
  • Identify opportunities that can improve efficiency of business processes
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in existing reporting applications to meet changing user requirements.

To be successful in this role, you have

  • Minimum of 8 years’ practical experience.
  • Post-secondary degree in computer science or related field or a combination of related experience and education.
  • Strong general technical experience with relational databases, data modelling and data warehousing principles.
  • Expertise in the Microsoft SQL Server stack – TSQL, SSIS, SSRS and SSAS
  • Expertise in Microsoft Power BI
  • Strong working experience with data migration, data cleansing, validation and de-duplication.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of standards, procedures and guidelines to support operational processes.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment
  • Willingness to work occasionally outside of normal business hours.
  • Willingness to learn
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
  • A results-oriented individual who thrives working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Practical experience with cloud computing (Azure preferred)
  • Practical experience with Microsoft D365
  • Practical experience with Azure DevOps
  • Working knowledge of CI / CD and associated pipelines
  • Working knowledge of GIT
  • Practical experience with Azure Data Warehouse
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric including Synapse Data Warehouse and Data Factory
  • Practical experience with CRM
