Qualifications

The Building Structural Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and oversight of structural projects for institutional, commercial, industrial, and/or residential buildings. He or she will be involved at all stages of the projects, from preliminary design through construction-phase support, in collaboration with other disciplines.

There is also a possibility to work at our brand new office in Repentigny for this role.

Main Responsibilities

Design and analyze reinforced concrete, steel, wood, and masonry structures

Perform structural calculations in accordance with applicable codes and standards (CSA, NBC, municipal codes)

Prepare and/or supervise the production of technical drawings and specifications

Ensure technical coordination with architects and mechanical and electrical engineers

Participate in design reviews and project meetings with clients

Provide technical support during the construction phase (site visits, responses to RFIs, technical opinions)

Supervise and mentor junior engineers, Engineers-in-Training (EITs), and technicians

Carry out surveys, inspections, and structural assessments as required

Meet project schedules, budgets, and the company’s quality standards

Required Profile
Education and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural specialization)

Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural option (an asset)

Minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in building structures

Technical Skills

Excellent knowledge of concrete and steel structures (wood is an asset)

Good understanding of CSA standards, the National Building Code, and local practices

Experience with structural analysis and modeling software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, ADA, etc.)

Ability to read, produce, and review technical drawings

Personal Skills

Autonomous with a strong sense of responsibility

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Technical leadership and mentoring abilities

Languages

French required (spoken and written)
