Overview

Job Title: Building Services & Maintenance Support

Location: Sudbury, ON - Falconbridge

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 hours/day

Employment Type: Through third-party contractor

On behalf of a third-party contractor (Bolan Contracting), XPS, a Glencore company, is seeking a reliable and hands-on individual in a Building Services & Maintenance Support role. This position plays a vital part in ensuring the upkeep, functionality, and safety of our facility, supporting day-to-day operations and contributing to a clean, well-maintained, and secure environment.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Safety & Building Services, you will be responsible for a variety of routine and preventative maintenance tasks and will serve as a key support for general building upkeep and contractor coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform day-to-day minor repairs, maintenance and general upkeep of the building and equipment
  • Perform and document regular preventative maintenance to ensure optimal operation of the facility
  • Assist with shipping and receiving duties
  • Operate a forklift and manage material handling needs (as required)
  • Respond to internal service requests and support building occupant needs
  • Support external skilled trades and contractors for larger repair and maintenance projects while on site
  • Perform fire and safety checks to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Respond to urgent tenant requests and issues as they arise
Key Qualifications & Skills
  • Hands-on experience with building maintenance and repair tasks
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and structural systems such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and fire safety
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess and resolve issues effectively
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Good communication skills; able to interact effectively with staff, tenants, and contractors
  • Must be capable of performing the essential physical duties of the job and comfortable with regular heavy lifting and moving materials
  • Working in confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to operate a forklift and maneuver materials on uneven surfaces, forklift certification is an asset
  • Training requirements: WHMIS, Working at Heights, Occupational Health & Safety Awareness (can be provided)
  • A proactive, positive attitude and a strong sense of responsibility
  • Previous experience in plant operations, facilities management, mining or industrial environments is preferred
  • A valid driver’s license is required
Additional Information
  • This is a contract role. The successful candidate will be employed by a third-party contractor but will report to and be directed by the XPS team.
  • Hours are Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day.
  • No extended health benefits.
  • Compensation and benefits are in accordance with the Employment Standards Act of Ontario (ESA).
  • Candidates will be required to follow Company Code of Conduct, standards and policies.
  • Compensation: $30 to $40 per hour to commensurate with experience paid by Bolan Contracting
