What’s the Job?

Based in a world class Horizon North camp facility, the regular shift for this position is 20 days on and 10 days off, with 10-hour workdays. Transportation is provided to site from a designated pickup point.

The Breakfast Cook is responsible for delighting our clients by preparing and cooking breakfast and baked goods to the highest standards of Horizon North.

This position is safety sensitive and may require drug, alcohol, and fit-to-work testing as a condition of employment.

Your work will include:

  • Preparing and cooking breakfast menu items, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, waffles, eggs and eggs, and specialty breakfast sandwiches.
  • Ensuring inventory levels are maintained sufficiently, including ensuring current inventory is used following the first in first out method.
  • Creating and following menus to ensure the quality of Breakfast menu variety.
  • Ensuring the highest level of customer service to the clientele within the lodge
  • Ensuring consistent quality standards in overall food preparation as per clients’ requirements including consideration of special dietary constraints
  • Ensuring proper equipment operation, safety, and sanitation in the kitchen
  • Complying with food hygiene regulations following the Food Safety Act.
  • Supporting night shift employees; providing mentorship and training
  • Supporting with all roles in the kitchen from dishwashing, to prep cook and meal execution to ensure on time meal service and accuracy of kitchen cleanliness is to company standard.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Desired Interprovincial Red Seal Certification or minimum Culinary Arts Graduate Certification.
  • Required: FoodSafe Level I is minimum. SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years’ cooking experience in a similar or hotel/institutional environment
  • Proven experience preparing and serving breakfast items for large number of guests
  • Successful candidates MUST obtain a mark of 100% on the mandatory WHMIS test (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).
