What’s the job?

Based in a world-class Horizon North camp facility, the regular shift for this position is 20 days on and 10 days off, with 10-hour workdays. Transportation is provided to site from a designated pickup point. The Breakfast Cook is responsible for delighting our clients by preparing and cooking breakfast and baked goods to the highest standards of Horizon North.

This position is safety sensitive and may require drug, alcohol, and fit-to-work testing as a condition of employment.

Your Work Will Include
  • Preparing and cooking breakfast menu items, including bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, waffles, eggs, and specialty breakfast sandwiches.
  • Maintaining inventory levels and ensuring current inventory is used following first in, first out (FIFO).
  • Creating and following menus to ensure quality and variety of the breakfast offerings.
  • Providing the highest level of customer service to clients within the lodge.
  • Maintaining consistent quality standards in overall food preparation as per client requirements, including considerations for special dietary needs.
  • Ensuring proper equipment operation, safety, and sanitation in the kitchen.
  • Complying with food hygiene regulations following the Food Safety Act.
  • Supporting night shift employees by mentoring and training.
  • Supporting all roles in the kitchen from dishwashing to prep cook and meal execution to ensure on-time meal service and cleanliness to company standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

  • Desired Interprovincial Red Seal Certification or minimum Culinary Arts Graduate Certification.
  • Required: FoodSafe Level I is minimum. SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years’ cooking experience in a similar or hotel/institutional environment.
  • Proven experience preparing and serving breakfast items for a large number of guests.
  • Successful candidates MUST obtain a mark of 100% on the mandatory WHMIS test (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).
