Overview

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Forklift and Warehouse Worker for our client in Nanaimo, BC. The successful candidate will begin in a temporary role with the potential to become permanent, and will be responsible for a variety of tasks including picking, packing, and staging items, as well as managing inventory and assisting sales representatives. This role requires a blend of physical ability, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety.

Position

Location : Nanaimo, BC

Employment Type : Full-time Temporary position with the potential to become permanent

Schedule : 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday

Breaks : One-hour lunch break

Wage : $20 - $23 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Accurately pick, stage, pack, and put away inventory items.
  • Audit and record inventory movement, correcting any discrepancies.
  • Conduct and assist with cycle counts and year-end inventory counts.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory variances and stock-out issues in collaboration with the sales team.
  • Assist in developing training materials for warehouse operations and inventory control.
  • Ensure strict adherence to inventory control standard operating procedures (SOPs) and all health and safety policies, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Safely and efficiently complete all daily shipping, receiving, and administrative tasks.
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal and external inventory questions.
  • Provide support for counter sales as needed to cover vacations or overflow.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Previous forklift experience and / or the ability to attain certification for forklift, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), and WHMIS.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, as well as stand, walk, and bend.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and active listening skills.
  • Reliable with excellent attendance and a strong, independent work ethic.
  • Effective and professional communication skills for interacting with coworkers and customers.
  • Basic English language proficiency for reading and writing.
  • 1-2 years of previous warehouse distribution experience is considered an asset.
