A vital organization supporting armed forces is seeking a Deployed Barber to cut and style hair for Canadian Armed Forces members and partner nations. This role involves enhancing the morale of deployed troops through professional hair services. Applicants must possess a high school diploma, a Provincial Barber certification, and relevant experience in a barber shop. Imagine the excitement and ability to show off your incredible skills in a deployed environment (overseas) for six months cutting hair for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and partner nations from across the world! As a deployed Barber, you are not just cutting hair, but enhancing the morale and welfare of all the troops deployed.
The Barber is part of an enthusiastic team of adventurous individuals who enjoy meaningful employment and contributing in a team‑based environment. Excited by the opportunity to deploy as a civilian among CAF personnel abroad, you are a team player with a positive attitude in a fast‑paced setting. You are able to adapt to new challenges in an ever‑changing dynamic environment.
The Barber cuts, trims and styles hair according to the customer’s preference or according to particular style (i.e. fades, military haircuts). You will trim beards/moustaches, analyze hair and scalp conditions, and provide advice on treatments.
In addition, Barbers can play an important role in enhancing the morale of CAF and partner nations by assisting with recreational activities and events. Keeping the military energized ensures they are mentally and physically ready to sustain the difficulties of military operations, and live healthy balanced lives.
High school diploma
Barber certification (Provincial)
Canadian citizenship
Must have a valid Canadian passport
Valid Canadian driver’s license (Class G or Class 5)
In working in a barber shop and/or in a hairdressing salon
In cutting and trimming hair
In shaving and trimming beards and moustaches
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
Completion of a health, dental and psychosocial assessment
Security screening
Ability to walk and lift, carry, pull or push heavy items
Recruiting for positions with multiple language requirements.
Civilian deployment contracts are 6‑month terms. Deployment start dates may take place within the next 2 years.
Maximum 56 hours per week, which includes weekdays and weekends.

Fully paid attendance, including travel, accommodations and meals.
You will learn more in‑depth about the day‑to‑day expectations, technical work‑related training, as well as a basic understanding of military practices and procedures. This will give you an opportunity to learn more about our organization as well as interact with like‑minded people that may be deploying with you. Your completion of the training session will be valid for 2 years.
