Position Summary

Are you looking to start an exciting career with one of BC’s top employers? BCIT’s in-house Auxiliary Services is seeking high-caliber individuals for temporary logistics assignments. Auxiliaries support operations during staff absences, training, or heavy workloads across campuses. Due to varying demand, employment may not be continuous.

This ongoing competition offers part-time or full-time opportunities. Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Unload deliveries using logistics equipment like forklifts and power jacks.
  2. Review documentation, match purchase orders, verify goods, and inspect for quality and safety compliance.
  3. Ensure electrical goods are CSA approved; arrange inspections for unapproved items.
  4. Store perishable and dangerous goods safely until pickup or delivery.
  5. Communicate with vendors and purchasing regarding order discrepancies.
  6. Assign asset and tracking numbers according to guidelines.
  7. Maintain records and update the ERP system with receipt and inventory data.
  8. Coordinate with clients for delivery or pickup schedules.
  9. Handle internal and external mail distribution.
  10. Prepare shipments, label items, complete documentation, and arrange export paperwork if needed.
  11. Use courier software for shipment arrangements and tracking.
  12. Advise clients on shipping options and costs; update on shipment status.
  13. Dispense goods, ensuring safety procedures are followed.
  14. Support waste chemical and bio-hazardous waste disposal per procedures.
  15. Handle and transport heavy materials safely, using trucks and logistics equipment.
  16. Assist with setting up and dismantling facilities and equipment.
  17. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform basic maintenance.
  18. Keep warehouse safe and organized.
  19. Respond to customer needs, maintain service standards, and handle inquiries.
  20. Manage bookstore inventory and pricing in POS software.
  21. Participate in records management training and stay updated on policies.
  22. Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: Grade 12 plus up to one year of post-secondary training in logistics or warehousing.

Licenses & Certifications: Valid BC driver’s license with a clean 12-month abstract, forklift certification (up to 5500 lb), WHMIS, and within six months, complete T Dangerous Goods, Propane, Safety, Mobile Equipment, Fall Prevention, Confined Space, and Scissor Lift certificates.

Experience: At least two years’ general experience, including two years in a similar role with inventory systems; proficient with material handling equipment and delivery trucks; familiar with safety and navigation in Greater Vancouver area.

Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, internet, email, inventory tracking systems; strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
