The Associate Senior Scientist will report to the Senior Manager of Analytical Development and operate jointly within the Bio‑Pharmaceutical Services (BPS) and Research and Development (R&D) teams for Cytiva’s Nucleic Acid and Nanomedicine Business Unit (BU). This role is ideal for a PhD‑level scientist with a strong background in mass spectrometry and biomolecular characterization, who thrives in a dynamic, innovation‑driven environment. You will play a key role in developing and optimizing analytical methods to support the advancement of Lipid Nanoparticle (LNP) formulations, nanomedicines, and nucleic acid therapies. This role will be full time onsite at our Nanomedicines located in Vancouver BC, Canada.

What you’ll do:
  • Develop and implement LC‑MS/MS and LC‑HRMS assays for intact characterization of protein conjugates, metabolite and small molecule identification, ADME/ PK studies, and/or other biomolecule characterization.
  • Lead and supervise analytical development activities relating to strategic internal R&D programs while providing scientific leadership and support for Cytiva’s CDMO service activities
  • Translate analytical expertise to innovate novel capabilities supporting the preclinical development of LNP, nanomedicines, and nucleic acid therapies
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, and/or capillary electrophoresis instrumentation
  • Mentor and instruct junior associates on analytical assay development, instrument operation, and data analysis
Who you are:
  • PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacy or related field with a minimum 3 years’ industry experience in developing and operating LC‑MS systems
  • Proficiency in HRMS data processing tools, ideally Biopharma Finder, TraceFinder, and Compound Discoverer, and other software tools supporting characterization of biomolecules and small molecules
  • Additional expertise in hyphenated UHPLC/ HPLC techniques (SEC‑MALS, HPLC‑UV, HPLC‑FLR, HPLC‑CAD), chromatography, and other bioanalytical techniques is a significant asset
  • Proven track record of analytical method development and assay suitability testing as per ICH/ FDA/ EMA guidelines in a CRO, CDMO, or contract testing laboratory
  • Deep and diverse expertise in biomolecule (E.g. Nucleic Acids, proteins, mABs), lipid, and excipient (Buffers, stabilizers, etc.) chemistry, ideally relating to LNPs

The salary range for this role is $90,000-120,000 CAD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
