We are looking to add a talented and hardworking Associate Director, Pension Administration to join our dedicated team of pension administrators. This full-time or part-time role is based in Toronto, Winnipeg, Fredericton or Halifax. The ideal candidates will have at least ten years of experience with defined benefit pension administration and thrive on providing superior customer service in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
  • Consult with clients on all matters of pension administration, including interpretation and best practices
  • Provide hands-on senior technical expertise for certain client teams in the calculation of complex pension plan entitlements, including termination, retirement, death, family law valuations
  • Support Pension Administration leader with strategic initiatives, process improvements and special projects
  • Assist with management and development of a team of pension administrators, with an eye for mentorship, advocacy, career guidance and growth
  • Client relationship management for including budgets and invoices, communications and presentations
  • Assist with the development, testing, and implementation of new technology solutions to enhance pension administration services
  • Assist with member communications including presentations, newsletters, technical documents, member and employer emails and policy updates
  • Support the preparation of plan member statements, reports and regulatory filings
  • Review of day-to-day admin tasks including termination, retirement, death, family law valuations
  • Adhere to quality standards and best practices
  • Learn plan provisions and administration policies for assigned clients
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of pension administration and / or actuarial experience with a degree in Math, Statistics or Actuarial Science, and / or CEBS, PPAC, or RPA designation
  • Leader in providing superior management and consulting related to pension administration services, with a commitment to the ongoing development of excellence for the practice at Eckler
  • Willingness to take ownership of assigned clients, setting and meeting required deadlines
  • Proven experience in successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously, and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget
  • In depth knowledge of pension legislation across Canada
  • Working familiarity with actuarial concepts
  • Ability to translate complex pension concepts to both internal and external clients, while using appropriate terminology and language suitable for all levels of knowledge
  • Experience in managing projects and processes within a dedicated client team environment
  • Experience with streamlining or automating processes
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel / Word and working with data administration systems
  • Willingness to spearhead and positively drive team initiatives
Nice to have
  • Experience managing and leading a team, with a strength in mentorship and training
  • An asset - ASA / ACIA or completion of select actuarial exams
  • Be the internal expert on relevant laws and rules concerning pension administration across Canada
  • Collaborate with leaders to develop and implement strategic initiatives
  • Manage budgets and service standards agreements
