About The Role

As a CBRE Assistant Chief Engineer, you will provide supervision of the Building operations team's day‑to‑day roles & performances along with working closely with the Chief Engineer ensuring the mechanical, electrical and fire suppression systems are managed above and beyond code compliance & AAA comfort. Assist in managing and coordinating the on‑site Operations and Maintenance staff as well as contracted skilled trades as required.

What You'll Do
  • Keep abreast of industry advancements. In keeping with the standards of an AAA Complex, supervise and review the day‑to‑day operation of the Operations and Maintenance departments.
  • Supervise staff and ensure scheduling to cover shifts; assist the Chief Engineer with time sheets and submit them to payroll.
  • Review daily maintenance records, logs, reports and provide directions for repairs, follow up and completion of work orders.
  • Supervise the HVAC and electrical equipment preventive maintenance programs along with the programming and administration of the lighting computer and the Building Automation Computer.
  • Assist the Chief Engineer in developing and managing an operational budget and strategies. Obtain quotes and pricing for labor and materials as required.
  • Assist the Chief Engineer in providing monthly Trend Analysis reporting on departmental activities (Brookfield Benchmarks), monthly billing amounts, customer complaints, number service requests etc. Achieve company mandated benchmarks for Lighting, HVAC, Electrical and Maintenance.
  • Monitor new tenant construction through physical visits and review of blueprints submitted by construction department. Ensure all subsequent issues or deficiencies are recorded.

  • Seneca College Building Environmental Systems Operator Class I and II (BES I and II) designation or equivalent.
  • Secondary education is required.
  • Thorough knowledge in the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, building services, and Life Safety equipment.
  • Solid understanding of chemical water treatment theories and practices.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5-8 years of job‑related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Prior shift manager or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Additional certification in one or more of the following: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • The innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.
  • Ability to solve unique problems using standard and innovative solutions having a broad impact on the business.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Expert organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
  • Highly sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate somewhat complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial‑related calculations.

Equal Pay Disclaimer

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Assistant Chief Engineer position is $85,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Assistant Chief Engineer position is $90,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
