At Samuel Automation, we design and build custom automated machinery that helps our customers solve complex manufacturing challenges. As an Applications Analyst, you’ll play a key role in driving our business forward by helping us win new projects and deliver innovative automation solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop innovative automation concepts that meet customer specifications, adhering to Samuel Automation’s engineering and quality standards.
- Create supporting AutoCAD drawings and functional descriptions that clearly communicate your proposed solutions.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for proposed solutions, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.
- Collaborate directly with customers to gather technical information and clarify project requirements.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to Sales Representatives, management, customers, and project stakeholders.
- Produce comprehensive, turnkey proposals that clearly outline scope, design, and costing for each project.
- Demonstrate initiative, efficiency, and precision in managing your portion of the quoting process.
- Research new technologies and engage with suppliers to gather technical and pricing information to support concept development.
- Organize and maintain quote-related documentation (including specifications, drawings, and cost estimates) in accordance with Samuel Automation standards.
- Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety policies and contribute to a safe and efficient work environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to develop innovative technical concepts
- Excellent presentation skills
- Sound technical knowledge over a broad range of technology and applications
- Some knowledge of control systems and software
- Proficiency using 2D and 3D AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create conceptual layout drawings and, as required, 3D machine or tooling imagery
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills in the English language
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines
- Ability to interact effectively with colleagues and clients
Autonomy and Authority
- Work without detailed supervision, but within clear guidelines, defined standards and specifications. Difficult, complex or unusual matters are referred to more senior authority.
- Generally, responsible for the creation and detailing of turnkey projects. Work is generally reviewed for soundness and completeness.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- College or University degree in engineering or related discipline
- A minimum of 3 years automation industry experience
- Experience in machine design is a definite asset
- Ability to run simulation software is an asset
- Valid Passport and driver’s license may be required, as well as the ability to travel to customer sites both locally and internationally
