ABOUT THE JOB

We are actively seeking an Administration Assistant – Human Resources to provide clerical support for a wide variety of Human Resource functions. In this entry-level role, you will be the first point of contact for employees and the public requiring information pertaining to Human Resource matters. You will enter and maintain employee records, recruitment files, and databases; prepare written correspondence; support full-cycle recruitment; and be involved in a variety of projects and initiatives.

You are a dynamic team player with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships on behalf of our HR team. You value and deliver exceptional customer service with your ability to actively listen and respond using your excellent written and verbal communications skills. You are able to multitask and prioritize your work to meet deadlines with frequent interruptions. Your strong clerical skills, and attention to detail will help you process large amounts of data accurately and efficiently. You are able to exercise discretion and deal with sensitive and confidential information.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post‑secondary education in Human Resource Management or Business Administration is preferred
  • 1-2 years of clerical experience, ideally in Human Resources
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Practical systems experience with HRIS or ERP software and Applicant Tracking Systems preferred
  • Experience working in a unionized municipal environment would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Human Resources principles, practices and procedures

This is an exempt full‑time position working 37.5 hours per week with a competitive salary and benefits package. Benefits include dental, extended health, and life insurance coverage, 3 weeks paid annual vacation, opportunity to participate in an earned day off program for an additional 15 days annually, participation in Municipal Pension Plan (upon eligibility), and access to our Employee Family Assistance Program. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position.

COMPENSATION: The pay for this position starts at $58,505 annually.
